Big brothers cuddling their newborn sibling during an in-home Baxter newborn session

Baxter Newborn Session at Home

There’s something quietly special about being invited back into someone’s home. A kind of unspoken trust, like being handed the next chapter of a story you’ve already started together.

Not too long ago, I spent an afternoon with Tara and Willie documenting their maternity session, a slow, love-soaked day filled with gentle anticipation. (You can revisit that beautiful afternoon here.) So when they reached out again, this time to capture their newest little love, baby Nash, I felt deeply honoured.

This Baxter newborn session unfolded right where it should, at home, among the hum and heartbeat of everyday life. The kind of setting where big brothers London and Van could race their remote cars in their backyard, challenge their parents to a game of Uno, and proudly show off their little brother like he was the coolest prize they’ve ever won. Their energy was electric, the kind that fills the corners of a house and makes it a home. And through it all, sweet Nash snoozed peacefully, wrapped up in all the noise and love that only siblings can bring.

Tara and Willie’s home is just… dreamy. Think warm tones, retro treasures, and spaces that tell stories all on their own. It’s the kind of place you want to stay a while. Where everything feels thoughtful and lived in. I’ve actually borrowed a bit of their magic myself while curating a gallery wall in my own home. Their style is effortless, inviting. Full of soul.

Sessions like this are where my documentary style truly comes alive. Nothing too posed. Nothing too polished. Just the real stuff — the wrestles and the snuggles, the cards mid-deal, and the quiet in-between moments where a mum rests her cheek on her newborn’s head, soaking in the stillness before the next burst of chaos.

Baby Nash is already so loved, and I can only imagine the adventures ahead with London and Van leading the way. From what I saw, he’s in very good hands.

If you’re planning a newborn session that feels natural, relaxed, and close to home — let’s chat. These fleeting early days are worth remembering just as they are.
