5 Tips to make sure you get Awesome Wedding Photos
For most couples, planning your wedding will be the biggest celebration you have ever planned together. Besides picking your wedding venue choosing a photographer to document your wedding will be one of the biggest decisions you’ll make. Once your wedding day is over, you will want to have the most amazing photos to look back on, with no regrets. Here are 5 tips to make sure you get the most awesome wedding photos ever!
Hire a photographer with a personality
Out of all of the wedding services you pick to make your wedding day complete your wedding photographer/s will be one the person that you will spend most of your wedding day with. Make sure that you actually like their personality. Choose someone that you can imagine hanging out with, rather than someone that has the best deal $$$!
Get to know the photographer’s style
Most wedding photographer websites will only show you highlights of their best work under the most perfect lighting conditions. Ask to see full galleries from real weddings, and you see how the photographer’s style and edit look under all lighting conditions. Be sure you are in love with their style of editing and try to avoid overly trendy looks. In 20 years from now, you don’t want your wedding photos to look dated. “Hello selective colour, the 80’s called and want their over edits back!”
Don’t sweat the small stuff
If you aren’t enjoying your wedding day, your photos will show that too. Don’t sweat the small stuff, outsource tasks to the trusted people around you. Have fun, laugh, eat lots of cake, drinking lots of champagne and dance until your feet hurt and cry happy tears of joy! Remember your wedding day is about the love that you two share, and as long as you are together nothing else matters: rain, hail or shine!
Throw out the shot list
You might think by giving your photographer a list of shots is what is needed. But if you trust them to follow their own hearts and creative vision you won’t be disappointed. Your photographer will see things that you can not see. If they are busy working on a list of shots they won’t have time capture those moments you don’t even know are happening.
Love yourself
I could write a whole book on this subject! I know it is easier said than done, and it’s something I am working on every day, myself. In this perfectly imperfect world, it can be hard to accept the way we look when we see photoshopped images in every form of media. These images are not a true reflection of what a real human being looks like in the real world. People come in all colours, shapes and sizes and I just wanted to say I see you and you are perfect just the way you are. Perfectly worthy of love and you are enough and don’t need to change for anyone. Just be yourselves and your beauty will shine through.
