Canadian Bay Beach Proposal
Some dates carry more weight than others.
They hum softly beneath the skin, tugging at memory and meaning.
When Daniel first reached out, he told me that 21 November wasn’t just another square on the calendar. It was his birthday. It was also the number that kept showing up in his and Paige’s story — their anniversary, their rhythm, their quiet constant. So this date mattered. Deeply.
Come rain, hail, or storm, he was going to propose that day.
Luckily for all of us, the universe played along.
The evening unfolded gently at Canadian Bay Beach, the kind of sunset that doesn’t shout for attention — soft light, calm water, the sky easing into itself. Daniel and Paige had dinner plans nearby, and like so many good proposals, this one began with something simple: “Let’s just take a walk along the beach.”
And then — the moment.
Shoes in hand, ocean stretching wide in front of them, Daniel dropped to one knee right there in the sand. No crowd. No performance. Just him, Paige, and the sound of the sea as witness. He asked, and Paige said yes — heart full, eyes bright.
Later, Paige laughed and admitted she had a feeling something was up. Not the when or the where, just that sense you get when love is pacing nervously beside you. A family member had also not-so-subtly hinted that a proposal might be on the horizon. So while it wasn’t a complete surprise, the moment itself still landed — real, emotional, and perfectly theirs.
Afterwards, Reuben and I stepped in quietly, giving them space to breathe it all in while we captured the aftermath — that soft, glowing we just got engaged energy that can’t be faked. Reuben shot on 35mm film, slowing things down even more, letting each frame be intentional. There’s something about film — the grain, the unpredictability — that mirrors moments like this. Honest. Imperfect. Alive.
Can you spot the difference between the film frames and the digital ones?
Both tell the story, just in slightly different languages.
A Canadian Bay Beach proposal, anchored by meaning, timing, and a love that knew exactly when it was ready — even if Paige already had a tiny inkling.
And honestly? That just makes it sweeter.
